TV Assembly Line

CKD stands for—Completely Knocked Down. It represents the most profound form of localized production.

The core concept is:  The exporter completely disassembles the product into its most basic, minimal unit parts before shipping. The importer’s factory must possess the capability to manufacture and assemble these fundamental parts into a finished product from scratch.

Using a television as an example,  in CKD mode, the exporter does not provide finished modules like mainboards or screen modules. Instead, they supply:
Bare PCB boards  and thousands of individual  components  (resistors, capacitors, chips, etc.).
LCD glass, optical films LED light bars, and driver ICs for self-assembly of the screen module.
Plastic pellets and molds for self-injection molding of the TV chassis.
All basic parts like screws and cables.

The importer’s factory (the CKD assembly line) must be a fully functional manufacturing base with complete capabilities, from circuit board manufacturing and screen module assembly to final product integration.

Advantages of the CKD Model

Very High Localization Rate:  Maximizes compliance with local government “localization” requirements, qualifying for the most favorable policy support.
Deep Mastery of Technology and Supply Chain:  Enables the company to truly master core TV manufacturing processes and the supply chain, reducing absolute dependence on upstream suppliers.
Strong Potential for Cost Control: Offers significant long-term potential for cost optimization and reduction due to large-scale use of local raw materials and labor.
High Flexibility and Customization:  Allows for flexible adaptation of product design, materials, and features to meet specific local market demands.
Creates High Value-Added:  The entire value chain, from raw materials to finished goods, is completed locally, creating the highest level of local employment and industrial output value.
